How can you live in California with all those earthquakes?"
Umm, I dunno. I sleep thru them. :scratchhead:
:rotfl:
I've actually slept thru a 7.6 earthquake in San Bernadino. The freeways were closed becouse all the bridges fell, but I knew nothing till I tried to go home. Imagine my surprise.
While still living in NJ there was an earthquake up in NY state which I felt and my wife didn't. This, of course, ment that I was nuts. At least until the news media reported it. :rotfl:

 Wow, Truck.....you slept through a 7.6?
Now.....those will wake me up! If that was the Northridge Quake...well, that was quite a rude awaking.....almost fell out of bed....I mean I got out of bed rather quickly. :)
I guess we did have a slight quake on the Newport Fault.....the other day, early in the morning.....but, I didn't feel it. It was only a 2. something. According to the 'experts'......we have slight shakers all the time. They even recorded one at a .9!
Just happy that we're not having any big ones.......

I believe it was the Northridge quake. (it was back in the mid/late 80s)
Now the Loma Preata quake, I don't think anyone could have slept thru. I thought my travel trailer (that I was living in at the time) was going to fall off the blocks it was suspended on.

That's the one where the freeway collapsed, right? Geeze, that was scary. I was packing to go to D.C. when they announced on the T.V that SF had had an earthquake.....and a bad one. Found out about the damage when I was in D.C. Subject of most conversations, believe me.

Oh....and I'm glad your trailer didn't fall off those blocks. :)

I believe that happened during a nighttime sporting event. Possibly football cuz that Michaels guy (Gene?) called it on TV as soon as it started. The other guys (I think Gifford was one) didn't know whatinhell was going on. :scratchhead:

I wasn't watching the sporting event but saw that clip on the news the next day. I was in New Jersey. I slept through it also. :rotfl:

Yup.

Oh, for information, the quake that hit the world series in San Francisco was the Loma Preta quake. It was in 89.
The Northridge quake was a couple of years earlier in Los Angeles.
The Loma Preata quake was 7.2
The damage in Oakland was becouse most of the city (it's whole western side) was built on sludge. They dredged the bay to get ships in, and that's where they dumped it. Nice place to build a city on.

The Northridge quake shook down freeway bridges all over the L.A. area. mostly in the North and East portions.
